What we lay

Resin bound is the specialism. The rest we have been doing since 2010.

A resin bound drive is a technical product. Laid properly it is seamless, permeable and still tight in ten years. Laid badly it ripples, goes bald at the edges and lifts. The difference is entirely in the base underneath and the hands that trowel it.

Gold resin bound driveway laid to a bungalow with a block paved border

Resin Bound Driveways

Our BBA approved system, hand trowelled over a solid permeable base. Seamless, no loose stone, no weeds coming up through it, and it drains straight through the surface.

Silver resin bound driveway and path running the length of a house

Paths & Walkways

The same surface taken around the house, down the side and up to the door. Smooth enough for a pushchair or a wheelchair, with no lip and nothing to trip on.

Charcoal block paved border meeting a resin bound driveway

Block Paving & Edging

Block borders, kerbs and edge restraints haunched in concrete. The frame that holds a resin drive true and stops the edges ever creeping away.

Grey porcelain patio with lawn and raised beds

Patios & Porcelain

We are also the patio and paving experts. Porcelain, natural stone and slab laid on a full bed, to falls, so water runs off it and away rather than sitting in the middle.

Landscaped rear garden with lawn, porcelain paving and a raised stone planter

Landscaping

Raised beds, stone faced planters, sleepers, lawns and the levels that make the whole garden work. Landscaping and driveway specialists, as the sign says.

Large gated house with a sweeping gold resin bound driveway and channel drain

Larger & Gated Drives

Sweeping drives, turning circles and gated entrances, set out properly and finished with channel drainage at the threshold so nothing runs out onto the highway.

A straight 5.0 on Google. Not 4.9, not 4.8.

Two hundred and twenty two households in and around Doncaster have written about the work after we packed up and left, and every single one of them gave five stars. Anybody can have a good month. Nobody has a clean sheet that long by accident. Read them yourself before you ring anybody, ours included.

Do I need planning permission for a new driveway?

Almost everybody asks, and almost nobody gets a straight answer. Here is the plain English version.

  • The rule is about water, not about the driveSince 2008, laying more than five square metres of a front garden in a surface that water cannot pass through needs planning permission. That is what catches people out.
  • Permeable surfaces do not need itIf the surface lets water soak through, or drains to a border or soakaway inside your own boundary, it falls under permitted development. No application, no fee, no waiting.
  • Resin bound is permeable by designOurs is a SUDS compliant system. Rain passes through the surface and through the base beneath it, instead of running off your drive and out onto the road.
  • Which is also why it does not puddleThe same property that keeps you the right side of the rules is what stops the standing water, the ice in January and the green algae down the shady side.
  • And if your ground will not take itWhere the subsoil is heavy clay, we form the falls and put in channel drainage at the threshold, so surface water is dealt with on your land and never crosses the pavement.

How we build it

A resin drive is only as good as the four inches under it

Resin bound is not a coating you paint onto an old drive. Anybody who offers to lay it straight over your existing tarmac is selling you a surface that will crack exactly where the old one did.

01

Excavate and cart away

The old surface and any soft ground beneath it comes out and goes on the wagon. Nothing is raked to the side and buried under your new drive.

02

A permeable base, in layers

Open graded stone laid and compacted in layers so water can pass right through the build-up rather than sit on top of it. This is the part that carries the car.

03

Edges, falls and drainage

Edge restraints haunched in concrete, the levels set to fall away from the house, and channel drainage at the threshold where the job calls for it.

04

Mixed, trowelled and signed off

Aggregate and resin mixed on site to the BBA approved specification, hand trowelled in one continuous pour, then we walk the finished drive with you.
